MKUAleksandar Bogdanovic, Minister of Culture

Born in 1977 in Cetinje. He finished High school in California, USA and graduated Faculty for Management in Belgrade in 2000, as the best student in the class. During that period, he was awarded with numerous acknowledgements and scholarships.

His career started in the Ministry of Economy of Montenegro, where he worked from 2000 to 2005 as an advisor of the Minister and PR. In December 2005, he was appointed for the advisor of the President of Montenegro for the field of economic relations and in 2009 he became the Member of the Parliament, the youngest one in that period. He was the member of the Board for security and defense, Board for economy, finance and budget and the Board for international relations and European integrations. He was the Mayor of the Old Royal capital Cetinje from December 2010.

He was a member of Permanent High Level Group (PHLG) and representative of Montenegro in the Athens process. From 2011 to 2014, he was the President of the Union of municipalities of Montenegro. In December 2014, he was elected as a President of the Board of the Union of municipalities of Montenegro. He is also the President of the Board of directors of Monteput from 2013.

He has passed numerous trainings in the country and abroad form the fields of international economic relations, multilateral economic and political relations and stabilization and association process and European integrations. He finished his specialization at the Institute for European policy in Berlin in 2003. Based on the invitation by the State Secretary of the USA, he participated in the trainee programme of PRs in Washington. He is the author or co-author of several scientific-research projects and works from the field of finance and economic relations. From 2007 to 2011, he was lecturer at the Faculty for State and European Studies in Podgorica, on the subjects Economy of public sector and Public finances of the EU. He was guest lecturer at the University in Belgrade, Diplomatic Academy and University in Sofia.

He won significant awards and recognitions, such as prestigious award for the Best Mayor of the region in 2014, during the ceremony for the election of the best manager and the best company of Southeastern and Middle Europe. Italian President Mr. Giorgio Napolitano awarded him with the Order of the Star of Italy in 2014, the most significant acknowledgement that is being awarded to foreign citizens for extraordinary contribution to the promotion of Italian culture.

He has been Honorary Citizen of Miami Beach, Florida, SAD from May 2017.
